TOPIC: Looking for Sachie Kawamitsu

Looking for Sachie Kawamitsu 6 Months ago Karma: 0
I am attempting to reconnect with a very dear friend. We were together in Okinawa from 1973-74. Sachie lived in Kin but moved to Osaka after I left. We stayed in touch with each other for a couple of years after, but I stopped writing to her and regrettably lost contact. I think of her often and wish to talk to her again. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Sincerely Nelson (Rocky) Strauch

Since any bit of information could help in locating Sachie I would like to add some more details about her.
Her family owned a bar in Kin-Kinson I think the address was 4144.
The name may have been Bar New York, but for the life of me I can not remember for sure.
She had a friend Yoko who married a marine captain.
She also had an aunt in Osaka that owned a beauty shop.
When Sachie was in Osaka she worked in a branch office of a Tokyo based chemical company.

Thanks again for any help.

having her last name will help you alot. At this site >> www.japanupdate.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=22
there are a lot of Mods/posters that live in Okinawa & Japan. I contacted an Okinawan lady I knew in 1968. Warning, your results may include an irate husband, but who knows?
Imo, I think it's a grand quest to reconnect with long lost friends and find out how things worked out. Time & space, what a concept!

So far no replies from the letters I sent, not really surprised though given that they were old addresses. It did get me thinking about visiting Okinawa especially with the crappy weather we’ve been getting here on the US East Coast this winter. My only hesitation is that Sachie could be most anywhere Japan, Okinawa, or even the US for all I know, plus the fact I don’t speak Japanese. So it brings me to this question, would it be a good idea to hire some kind of local PI to do some research to see if there is any possibility of locating Sachie first, before taking such a trip?

Thanks again for any suggestions, Nelson (Rocky) Strauch

As I understood it from earliar inquires about finding someone on Okinawa, either searching in person or getting a PI is about the only way to have a chance! You need to ask yourself a honest question and that is "why are you trying to find this ladY"??? Many moons have come and gone since you were with her!

"I am attempting to reconnect with a very dear friend".

well, that says it all! I wish you the BEST of luck. Don't let any boo-birds here bother you. "a very dear friend" says it all. Boo-birds don't like it because she was a female friend. I found an old Okinawan friend by posting her full name at Naomi's "Lost on Okinawa" page.

Sadly, that site is no longer up (it was linked here and may still be)
