A ground crew man who witnessed fuel leaking from a Boeing 737 gave not only warning for the passengers and the crew of said flight, but also the first lead as to what caused the fire and subsequent explosion.

Konan High School, the Okinawan prefecture champion and representative to the 89th Annual National Baseball Summer Tournament, lost. Their opponent in the second round was Bunsei Fuzoku High School, representing Toguchi Prefecture, about one hour north by train from Tokyo, home of the famous Nikko Shrine.

Konan High School, Okinawa Prefecture Baseball champions and representative to the National Baseball tournament won their first round game today, 3-2. In this single-elimination styled tournament, the Konan vs. Okayama Ridaifuzoku was the 2nd game of 23 in the first round.

Keiko Itokazu won a victory for one of the Okinawan upper house seats in Japan’s parliamentary elections, Sunday, July 29th. She beat incumbent Junshiro Nishime for the seat. All over Japan, Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) incumbent’s suffered defeat after defeat. This can be seen as a barometer of public sentiment, against the ruling party and especially their leader, Prime Minister Abe. National issues plaguing the LDP include a decades old recession, the LDP’s push to amend the Macarthur inspired, Post WWII Japanese constitution to allow for more ‘offensive’ postures to participate in the global war on terror. To top this off, various scandals continue to surface throughout government, even a number of Abe’s own cabinet ministers have had forced resignations as well as one suicide.

People lined the streets on Sunday, August 5th, to watch the lively dance and music collaboration of the different groups. The taiko drums reverberated, the music sounded, the dancers sweat and energy mixed together with the supportive cheers and claps of 100,000 sets of hands from the audience. This is eisa season.

Konan is in!!!
Konan High School, Naha City, Okinawa, was the first team to officially make it to the Japanese National Summer Baseball Tournament. It will be their first appearance there in 28 years. The National Tournament is played at the sacred Koshien Baseball stadium in Hyogou Prefecture, right outside Osaka.
