Looking for Yoshiko Yastome - 2006/10/26 17:58Yoshiko and I were friends and lovers in 1961-62 while I was stationed at the Naha Air Force Base. She lived in Naha. After returning to the States I neglected to stay in touch with her. If she can forgive me now that we are in our 60s I would like to get in touch with her.

Was in 51th A&E from early 1960 until July 1962. Me too, had a girlfriend that I still remember today and wish I had not lost contact. We were so young then.

Re:Looking for Yoshiko Yastome - 2007/03/10 04:23Too bad we were led to believe that these women were not to marry and take home. I was on Okinawa from 1961-1963 and it was beat into us that relationships with the Okinawain women would never stand the trials of time and marriage would only create problems back home.
If we could only turn back time eh?

Re:Looking for Yoshiko Yastome - 2007/08/14 03:53Was in Japan March 2002 visiting my son at Atsugi NAF and was invited to fly down to Okinawa by some astronomer friends. Just could not do it. Glad I didn't go because people told me it was a totally different place that I remember it. Even Japan was totally different after more than 40 years,
My girlfriend was the niece of one of my sensei, but I lost contact with both of them and now can’t remember sensei’s name! Time passes on.

Re:Looking for Yoshiko Yastome - 2007/08/14 04:11you are right! As one of my family members said recently, do you think your old girlfriend from 44 years ago would really want you to find her???? time rolls on for sure and most have forgotten that part of their past!
