Re:Looking for Yoshiko Yastome - 2008/03/28 10:29
yesterday, after years of trying and email drama, sheer willpower/intent on my part, I finally contacted a lady I knew then. After my first posting in Naomi's (now gone) "Lost in Okinawa" page, +dealing with their fears of my motives, I connected. By then, I'd worn out any friendly "hi!" or sharing any discussion of my day's in Okinawa. Rather anti-climatic, and less than satisfying. (Also had a difficult time with her broken english, I'm waaaay out of practice)
Imo- I'd say most of those gals we knew then, do not wish to remember that "GI past" that they have gotten over. So you (and I) Get over it! haha
Most of the conversation was embarrasing for me. My presistence to "connect" dashed any hopes of a normal friendly conversation. Just short and tense.
You have an ex-gals full name? Then you do have a decent chance of being noticed by her or her family if they are online. I've learned that alot of online okinawa posts feed to a tight knit, protective community. Saying you were lovers? BAD CHOICE! -IMHO
Be careful of what you hope or pray for, it might come true (in way's you didn't hope for).
