 Closing ceremony - 2006/10/15 14:00 Last night the 4th Uchinanchu Festival closed. The closing ceremony held in the Convention center event hall, had hundreds of performers (mostly young people) and was another lavish stage production. I'll have pictures in the photo gallery soon.
What was just as impressive was the gauntlet formed by the performers after the show to funnel the audience to the Grand Finale at the Ginowan Seaside Park. At first I was a little annoyed that I was being crowded and directed but having hundreds of young Okinawans lined up saying thank you for coming to the Overseas Participants was very touching.
The Grand Finale closed with the Okinawan Peruvian group the Diamantes and fireworks.
The next Uchinanchu festival will be in 2011.
